Jet Powered School Bus

I couldn’t even make it up if I tried, but today at the Wichita Flight Festival, we saw it with our own eyes. A custom school bus with 42,000 horse power rocket engine on the back raced and beat an airplane (by a mile, I might add). I’ve lived in the midwest all my life, and some redneck stunts still surprise even me. The anouncer said over the loudspeaker, “you don’t get any more American than that.”. Well, you sure don’t get any more midwestern redneck than that.

I’m not the least embarassed to say the kids and the adults thoroughly enjoyed seeing it roar down the runway. If it wasn’t for us midwestern redneck crazies, I don’t think the show America’s Funniest Home Videos would have had any material – but I digress.

I couldn’t help but think about the “out of box” thinking it took to come up with this and really own it. Was the guy who built it ridiculed by his friends? Did they treat him a bit like the masses treated Noah back in the day? Build an ark? What for?

Sometimes you have to go out really far on a limb, so far you think it might break and own it. Follow your heart and your gut and chase it down.

In this battle of Lyme disease – that’s the way you have to find your treatment protocol and doctors. You have to take your health seriously and be your own advocate and chase healing down – I mean chase it down in a 42,000 horse power – 300 mile an hour – school bus on a runway – crazy, zany, against the grain all on your own.

Don’t let people talk you out of it. Don’t let doctors tell you that you are crazy or making it all up and aren’t really sick. Don’t let the “way out there” treatments scare you off. Do your research and chase it down. At the end of your day, your health matters. It is worth fighting for, even standing all alone.

You never know though, at the end of the race (or the end of the runway) after you have blown away the competition and WON the fight – you might just get a standing ovation.
