The news is ablaze with discussions- subjective and opinionated and vindictive – about “to vaccinate or not to vaccinate”, that is the question.
I have a more important question to vent about because it is not really about vaccination. That is the platform from which they are launching the biggest assault on our medical freedom to date as a country. My question is: Where is our medical FREEDOM?
I’m going to start with the communication structure we refer to as the media. Founded on the idea of an independent, non-partisan group of entities that could deliver the news directly to the people. The same news media that enjoys FREE speech because of our liberty is trying to convince us to do something Un-FREE?
The same news media that convinced us it was okay not to quarantine people who had just traveled to Ebola ravaged countries in Africa. The same media who stand adamantly behind Roe v. Wade. That same media is telling us to vaccinate against our will?
Who are you to even suggest it? Who are you government and media to even whisper about such an infringement on my FREEDOM? You cannot stand on a platform for over 50 years claiming abortion is a woman’s right, her freedom of choice, but she cannot choose to take or not take a flu or measles shot?
I occurred to me last night as this blog article was forming in my mind just erupting and begging to get out, that if you take away the “FREE” from the word “FREEDOM” you are left with “DOM” or better pronounced “DUMB”.
That is what is being suggested here people – its just DUMB.
You cannot fool me, you cannot fool us as strong independent smart American people who love and thrive in our FREEDOM. You cannot give me the freedom to vote, freedom over my womb and seed, to speech, to religion but take away my freedom to choose a shot or not to choose a shot. I have the freedom to not receive medical treatment at a hospital to prolong my life, but I cannot choose to not receive a vaccine?
We are so full of double speak and misdirection that I can hardly stand to hear it anymore. How did a deadly virus like Ebola turn into less of a nightmare than measles, a non fatal virus? Just to digress for one quick second – if the measles vaccine was so perfect and protective, how did non-vaccine kids with measles give it to the vaccinated kids in the first place? Isn’t that what the vaccine’s actual job is? So the only sick measles kids/people should be 100% non-vaccinators, right? Okay just pausing to apply logic in the worldwind of lies.
If I as a woman have freedom and choice over my womb, but not my immune system, what is next? Do I have the rights and freedoms over what I learn, what I read, or is my brain off limits too? Do I have a right to breathe, a right to drink water or should you regulate how much water and when and where?
Shouldn’t we fine people who feed their kids McDonald’s? Because eating crappy bad-for-you-food will lead to a weakened immune system and those kids will get the flu faster and bring it to school and expose my kids to getting sick more. Right? So we could blame McDonald’s loving parents and sue them too. How about parents who smoke and give their kids asthma – aren’t they costing us something? How about the people who don’t put their kids to bed on time, or who let their kids watch rated R movies and teach my kids cuss words at school in 2nd grade? How about them, aren’t they damaging our culture too? Don’t I have a right to not be exposed to that?
Yes, I sure do, its called the FREEDOM of home schooling or private schooling or parochial schooling.
Can we really pick and choose what liberties we have as parents? We either have the FREEDOM in this country to raise our families or we don’t. We either have the FREEDOM to our own bodies or we don’t.
One day in the middle of my terrifying and nearly deadly battle with LYME, I stopped to get a bottle of water at QuickTrip because I was dizzy and feeling dreadful. I stood behind a guy in line with plumber’s butt who was easily 150 lbs overweight, buying 10 cans of skoal, 2 packs of cigarettes and a 40 ouncer. So I eat all organic, gluten free and still got really sick from LYME, so is everything about our health really tied up in all the small details or is some of it beyond our grasp, understanding and control? I mean what right did this guy have to abuse his health when I was grasping for my own? He had every right as much as it sickened me – he has the same FREEDOM as I have.
We can get caught up in the frenzy of emotion and fear regarding “protecting” our kids or our health or we can step back and recognize FREEDOM and choice for exactly what they are. I can choose to eat right and exercise and live right, but I can still NOT control the number of my days and how I live them out. I can eat fast food, smoke and drink and do drugs and live out my life that way and last until 100. I could do both these ways and still not get the measles whether I got the shot or not. We cannot control that much, that is what FREEDOM allows.
FREEDOM allows for us to choose and to accept the consequences of our choices. FREEDOM allows us to live for today or live for eternity.
FREEDOM allows us a semblance of control over our days but not real control. FREEDOM allows us to be our own boss and eat dessert or the extra helping of fries with or without guilt, because guilt is a choice too.
FREEDOM is YOU media and YOU government getting out of my house, my home and my business. I’ll pay my taxes, I’ll follow the letter of the law and I will basque in my FREEDOM, the FREEDOM that this country was founded on, the FREEDOM my forefathers fled to fight to the bloody death for.
This talk, this whisper of taking my medical FREEDOM away stinks of oppression, the very thing people fled from to come here to establish.
Don’t be fooled people into thinking it won’t happen here, or I don’t have to say anything. It already is. The very fact that this argument has gotten so much airtime is proof of it. The very fact that children are being taken from their parents in hospitals across the country. Its made it to Washington to be mulled over. They want your FREEDOM, they have been slowly taking it bit by bit and they will until it is gone.
Then you will say “What happened to our FREEDOM?”
