Just in the nick of time

subway-doorsYears and years ago, a friend and I were travelling internationally and had just made the last train departing the city to the airport to make our flight. As we were sitting on the train that hadn’t yet left, my friend decided she was horribly thirsting and spotting a vending machine on the platform, determined she had enough time to disembark and get a bottle of water. As she was retrieving said water, the train doors hissed and began to close. The rest of this story you must imagine in super slow-motion. She turned and raced back the 5 steps to the door and thrust her body in between the doors just as they closed down on her torso. I raced to the doors and with the help of a foreign passenger, we began to pull her into the train as the doors kept trying to close over and over again on her mid section and the train began racing away from the station with her little American legs wiggling out in the air.

Long story short, we got her in the train. No words had to be spoken. I think I didn’t exhale until we made the flight. A thousand scenarios went through my head in the 30 seconds it took us to get her on the train and none of them had a good ending. We had barely made the train, barely gotten her back into the train and then barely made our non-refundable flight.

Just in the nick of time.

How many just in the nick of time moments have you had? Coincidences? Nope.

All our just in the nick of time moments are purposed by a purposeful God. A God who is intentional, faithful and aware of our every need and movement.

But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations. (Psalm 33:11)

Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails. (Proverbs 19:21)

The Lord Almighty has sworn, “Surely, as I have planned, so it will be, and as I havepurposed, so it will happen. (Isaiah 14:24)

Last week, we received an answer to an 8 year prayer for my daughter’s health. Why 8 years, I cannot know, but I believe fully it was in just the nick of time. He opens doors of opportunity that no man can close.

These are the words of him who is holy and true, who holds the key of David. What he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open. (Revelation 3:7)

These are the things I can tell you after ten years battling intense health issues with both my kids and then myself. God will bring around his purpose. His messages to meet your needs comes with giant billboard types of announcements via a variety of vehicles (sermons, music, friends, neighbors, books, newspapers, etc). There will be no question as to the direction you should take. But you must ask for wisdom. That is all, simple but it must be asked.

If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. (James 1:5)

I can make no guarantees when it will be delivered or how, only that I know that He is faithful. He will guide you. He will deliver wisdom, he will deliver answers.

Keep praying, keep believing and hoping for healing direction.

Blessings and healing,
