Can you find a Doctor with 2 Brains?
In Lyme disease, nothing makes sense. The brain fog and emotional confusion make finding a treatment protocol and cure seem like an insurmountable obstacle – an impossibility. All the testing and medicine and protocols seem useless and nonsensical, like gold – potato salad – cheese.
Well, let me explain…..
Last time my son was home sick from school, he was in a particularly cuddly mood and wanted me right beside him on the couch. I relented and half slept, half cuddled and half watched cartoons with him all day.
I have never watched Word Girl before, and may never again, but this episode was wickedly funny to me and appropriate to share with you.
Doctor 2 Brains, who is apparently the nemesis character of Word Girl, was up to his typical behavior – no good. In this episode, Doctor 2 Brains was stealing all the gold in the world to turn it into potato salad and turning the potato salad into cheese. Why? Well, his extra brain came from a mouse, so that makes sense on the cheese part (in a very cartoon plot kind of way), but why gold – potato salad – cheese?
That very question was posed to him by Word Girl as she is trying to save the day – and the cheese.
Why on earth would any sane person steal gold to make potato salad to make cheese? Especially not any smart doctor type of person, right? Wouldn’t it make more sense to steal the gold to just buy the cheese? Or just steal the cheese?
Hmmmm….off subject, I just have to say, that some people, like the writers who created this story line have incredibly fun jobs.
On top of that, no one around you gets it in your Lyme disease. This gold – potato salad – cheese recipe made perfect sense to Doctor 2 Brains – at the time anyway. Your family, your friends, your spouse and kids – they have no idea how to process what you are feeling and going through in Lyme.
And don’t get me started on the doctors. How many doctors have you been to? How many doctors treated you condescendingly and tried to put you on antidepressents? There were no doctors with 2 brains that’s for sure, most of the ones I saw in the beginning didn’t even have one brain of their own – More like Dr. Half Brain.
I have talked to and met probably over a hundred fellow Lymies and know their stories line up with mine. In my Facebook Lyme groups and on my Facebook page – the testimonies of Lymies hurting all over the world are there. You don’t have to look hard to find them.
My story is one of encouragement. God compelled me out of the raging Lyme storm to build others up and help them have peace and healing. That is why I am here, that is why this book.
There are no guarantees in this world of what our tomorrow’s will bring, and as we have all realized, there are no guarantees of an easy road or a healthy road. What I am confident about is how you can survive this tragedy and struggle. Life is worth fighting for, isn’t it?
