I am so thankful.

thanksgivingI am thankful for family.
I am thankful for a roof over my head.
But can I say I am thankful for something that I dread?

I am thankful for kind friends,
A community of faith who sacrifice and break the mold.
But can I say I am thankful for my life put on hold?

I am thankful for the seasons and the beauty of the earth,
I am thankful for my kids and all parenting entailed.
But can I say I am thankful for a life derailed?

I am thankful for doctors and staff who give their best
I am thankful for treatments and therapies that work
But can I say I am thankful for some of those medical jerks?

I am thankful for wisdom that can only come from above
I am thankful for access and freedom to knowledge about this disease
But can I say I am thankful to give up a life of ease?

How thankful am I really, if I only like the good
How thankful am I really, if I ungratefully pick and choose
How thankful can I be if I think I know what’s best
Can I really see what’s best for me tomorrow or the rest?

The biggest steps to thankfulness is to open up your heart.
To be thankful for the good and bad, every single part.
If God’s in charge staying true to His word, then I can trust His plan
Toss out my bitter attitude for thinking that I can
Without a grateful attitude I lose the opportunity
To thank Him for the everything, including bonks and dings

For without the dents and speedbumps, life would sure be dull
And I would lose the chance to know Him in the full
The ups with the downs make much more sense
When you see from His perspective
I thank you Lord for everything, even the subjective.

What freedom there is in letting go and being thankful for it all
I can thank you for Lyme and all its put us through because I remember
Your promises, your faithfulness and your mercy that is so tender.

I am thankful for it all, it is complete.
I am grateful throughout my heart.
Yes, I can say I am thankful for everything you impart.
