I’ve been doing my best to just ignore it. I have known in my heart what was going on, just like with the over-hyped media uproar over the measles at Disney last year. The media loves to terrify us in the latest “something is going to kill you” story. Death and emergencies go “viral” now with the 24/7 media cycle on the internet.
But I can’t keep quiet anymore. So, I’m pulling out my education soapbox and telling you exactly how it is. I’ve been battling the sheer stupidity of this for days now and can’t hold it in. I mean Lyme is spread by mosquitoes and there were 300,000 new cases each year and how many Zika? Twelve. Three hundred thousand from a deadly spirochete called Lyme and 12 from a nonfatal virus that causes birth defects. So why panic? I’m not saying a birth defect is not horrific…..its just not triaged correctly.
I mean, did I stutter. Lyme kills. Lyme causes death. Lyme is passed in the womb.
The question I want you to ask yourselves is why Zika and not Lyme? A new strain of Lyme was just discovered. (Cite) The CDC finally admitted the actual new cases of Lyme are 10 times higher than previously estimated. Why is Zika getting all the attention, and not just attention – someone is asking for money.
Did you know in the first 4 years of the discovery of HIV, there were 1118 deaths? (Cite) There are now 1.2 million people living with HIV positive in the US and the infection rate is about 50,000 new ones per year. The CDC and the government were the last to get on board, admit, fund and fight for the lives and education of our population. The last. Now, after decades of recognition, our government funds 3 billion dollars a year to AIDS research.
After the discovery of Lyme disease decades ago, there are now over 300,000 new known cases each year – I believe that number is off by a zero or two due to misdiagnosis and uneducated physicians. So that means that as many people that are living with HIV are also living with Lyme Disease, at least. Do you know how much our government funds for research? A mere 25 million dollars for Lyme (Cite). Wow, do those number seem off to you?
There are 12 related cases of Zika in Florida. Twelve. How about the fact that President Obama just asked Congress today for 1.8 billion for Zika funding and research. (Cite) What? 1.8 billion dollars, that’s over half the amount spent on AIDS, arguably one of the worst epidemics of our time. So, over 300,000 known cases of Lyme disease which is sexually transmitted and passed in the womb and causes birth defects and harm compared to 12 cases of Zika. Three hundred thousand to 12 – 25 million to 1.8 billion. So, for Lyme that is $83 per person and for Zika that is $150 million per person.
Ask yourself these simple questions.
Why panic over 12 and not take seriously the 300,000 which has grown to over a million?
Why the sudden billion dollar giveaway?
What happens when you follow the money trail?
Why are we letting the “paid for” media determine our crisis and emergencies?
There is nothing that infuriates me more than to see the same old incorrect information about Lyme put out there in Spring at the start of tick season like its the flu or something. Lyme kills. Lyme is dangerous. Lyme is life altering. Lyme is as ugly and is as heart wrenching as the poor babies affected by Zika. I am not downplaying the horrific nature of the Zika virus. I’m just comparing it apples to apples.
What I am saying is this. Someone is profiting, or about to seriously profit from Obama and our government 1.8 billion dollars if they get it. Follow the money trail.
What I am also saying is that this isn’t a natural plague. It increased tremendously in 2012 after genetically modified mosquitoes were released by a biotech company in Brazil. Hmmm, interesting. That sounds a lot like Plum Island and the beginning of Lyme spreading in our country. (Cite) The Brazilian government is pushing all pregnant women to get a new Tdap vaccine and they are spraying chemicals all over the country to kill all the mosquitoes. Yep, no one is making money off any of that, right? See any problems with killing all mosquitoes in such a large rain forest with dangerous chemicals?
Really, this sounds more like a Hollywood movie story line than real life, but is true. The most ridiculous part is that the media and the government actually think you might fall for it. Do your research, get educated and don’t fall for it.
Don’t let them hijack more of our tax dollars for a made up emergency that will just line the pockets of a few dozen people somewhere. Don’t let them triage what is more deadly or important. Do your research. Think for yourself.
